E554 ALUMINUM SILICATE AND SODIUM
The aluminum and sodium silicate is a chemically produced compound with anti-caking, excipient and support function for aromas and dyes.
It can be contained in various food products.
At the moment there are conflicting theses on the effects that this additive can have on men's health: some researchers advise against its intake especially for pregnant women for any problems that could occur to the placenta due to the amount of aluminum contained inside. of the additive; other researchers, on the other hand, consider this additive harmless for human health as it is not absorbed by the body.
Therefore, given the conflicting hypotheses, frequent consumption is not recommended (especially if you are in one of the risk groups)

EFSA NOTE 2008
- In view of the tendency of aluminum to accumulate in the body as a result of dietary exposure, the AFC Panel considered it more appropriate to establish a "Tolerable Weekly Intake (TWI)" instead of a "Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) for aluminum. On the basis of the complex of indications emerging from the above studies, the scientific panel established a TWI of 1 mg of aluminum / kg bw / week.
