It can be administered parenterally (solution for injection or intrathecal infusion), or orally (tablets) and is available in various drugs in various concentrations. Parenteral medicines that contain baclofen can only be used in hospital setting (OSP - tier H); while oral medicines can be sold in pharmacies on repeatable prescription (RR). Those containing the highest baclofen dosage (25 mg per tablet) are classified as tier drugs A, therefore their cost can be reimbursed by the National Health System (SSN), even if in some cases a small fee is required by the patient; medicines for oral use in which baclofen is present in lower concentrations ( 10 mg per tablet), on the other hand, are classified as class C drugs, therefore, their cost is fully borne by the citizen.
