E343 MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE or MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE
Magnesium phosphate is the magnesium salt of phosphoric acid; it is an acidifying product widely used, even in conjunction with other additives, but little mentioned in the various texts.
Magnesium phosphate is used as an emulsifier, as an adjuvant to antioxidant compounds and as an "anti-lump".
It is also used as a magnesium salt in functional foods and as a food supplement.
It can be contained in some bakery products and food supplements.
To ward off a calcium deficiency, its use is limited (even if the ADI dose is high) as it avidly binds calcium.
ADI DOSE: 70 mg per kg of body weight.
It is divided into the various magnesium salts of phosphoric acid:
- E343a MAGNESIUM MONO-ORTHOPHOSPHATE
- E343b MAGNESIUM DI-ORTHOPHOSPHATE
- E343c MAGNESIUM TRI-ORTHOPHOSPHATE
