E251-SODIUM NITRATE
Sodium nitrate is a chemical preservative, which comes as a white powder, used as a preservative to maintain the natural colors of foods longer.
It is considered a fairly dangerous additive, mainly used in meats and meat products, cheeses, pizza etc.
Nitrates do not have major side effects per se, but being able to be transformed into nitrites, through heating or other processes, they can cause hyperactivity, asthma, insomnia, nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure, etc.
Frequent consumption above the ADI dose is not recommended.
ADI DOSE: 3.7-5.0 mg per kg of body weight
