BS Brilliant Green or Lissamine Green is a green dye of synthetic origin. It can be mildly toxic. Present in candied fruit, sweets, syrups, candies, soft drinks, liqueurs.
Side effects are not well known.
Possible risks: hyperactivity, asthma, skin reactions, insomnia. There is also a risk that it could be carcinogenic at high doses.
ADI DOSE: 5 mg per kg of weight.
