Chicory extracts are often used to treat biliary dyspepsia, chronic constipation, irritable bowel, flatulence and bloating. The general purifying property with a mildly laxative and diuretic action should also be emphasized.
The latex extracted from chicory is used for the production of bitters, digestives and aperitifs.
Roasted chicory root is an excellent coffee substitute.
