Although it can be annoying, this manifestation is rarely synonymous with a disturbing disorder; in most cases, the trembling eyelid is caused by the involuntary contraction of one of the eye muscles.
Usually, the flickering is one-sided and can involve both the upper and lower eyelid lines.
This "over-stimulation" can have various reasons. Generally, a trembling eyelid is a sign of excessive fatigue, stress and sleep deprivation, so it shouldn't cause alarm in sufferers. If the manifestation becomes particularly frequent, however, it is advisable to contact a doctor for appropriate investigations.
