Arthralgia

Generality

Arthralgia is the term doctors use to refer to pain in one or more joints.
The main causes of arthralgia are: arthritis, the phenomenon of joint distortion, the phenomenon of joint dislocation, hypothyroidism and malignant bone cancer.

In general, arthralgia never appears on its own, but is associated with other symptoms, such as: a sense of joint stiffness, reduced joint mobility, swelling and redness of the skin in correspondence with the painful joint.
The presence of other associated symptoms depends on the underlying causes.
In order to plan an adequate and effective treatment of arthralgia, doctors must know precisely the factors that triggered the onset of joint pain.
Arthralgia and arthritis are not synonymous, but they indicate two different medical conditions.
