Editorial board Glimepiride - Chemical Structure
As an oral antidiabetic, glimepiride must be taken by mouth in order to perform its action. It can be administered either alone, as monotherapy, or in combination therapy with other antidiabetic drugs.
Medicines containing glimepiride can only be sold to the public on presentation of a repeatable prescription (RR); however, since they are classified as class A drugs, they can be dispensed at the expense of the National Health System (NHS). In some cases, it may be necessary to pay a small ticket by the patient.
