Various active ingredients belong to this group which - acting with different mechanisms of action according to the class to which they belong - are able to control glycemic levels in patients suffering from diabetic disease.
In the course of this article, we will describe the different classes of oral antidiabetic drugs, their main characteristics, the mechanism of action and the most common undesirable effects.
of these drugs consists of a sulphonylurea. They belong to this class:
- Glibenclamide (Daonil®, Euglucon®, Gliben®, Gliconorm®, Glibomet®);
- Gliclazide (Diabrezide®, Diamicron®, Dramion®);
- Glipizide (Minidiab®);
- The glyquidone (Glurenor®);
- The glimepiride (Amaryl®).
