E536 POTASSIUM FERROCYANIDE
These two additives are chemically produced and have an anti-caking, stabilizing and chelating function of metals. Potassium ferrocyanide comes in the form of lemon yellow crystals, while sodium ferrocyanide comes in the form of yellow crystals or crystalline powder.
They can be used in some products, such as table salt and salt substitute products. In wine they can be used to remove copper, which is used as a fungicide in vineyards.
These substances are toxic if taken in their pure state, but in the permitted doses they do not have negative side effects on human health. For this reason they are authorized in small doses.
