Soluble in ethanol, it is soluble in a quantity of water lower than its own weight, but with an excessive quantity of water it forms an insoluble basic salt.
As a food additive, stannous chloride mainly has a stabilizing and antioxidant function.
Stannous chloride can be contained in various products, such as canned asparagus and canned legumes.
It could cause nausea and vomiting in high doses.
