E483 STEARILE TARTRATE
Stearyl tartrate is a food additive of natural origin, obtained from a combination of stearic acid and tartaric acid. The origin of stearic acid can be either vegetable or animal, although that of vegetable origin is almost always used.
These food additives are used in various products for their emulsifying and stabilizing function. They can be contained for example within English specialties and bakery products.
At the moment there are no known negative side effects for human health linked to the consumption of food products added with stearyl tartrate.
ADI dose: 20 mg per kg of body weight.
