Risks: hyperactivity, skin reactions due to allergic reactions, allergies, rhinitis, asthma, insomnia and edema; c "there is a risk that it may be carcinogenic and for this reason it is not recommended.
According to some scientific research, azorubine, together with another synthetic dye, cochineal red A (E124), damages the adrenal cortex.
This dye is prohibited in Austria, Norway and Sweden. Australian consumer associations have included azorubine in the group of food allergens dangerous to health, especially for people with asthma and aspirin intolerant.
