E223 - Sodium metabisulphite

Sodium metabisulfite is a sodium salt of sulphurous acid.
It occurs at room temperature as a white, unstable powder which forms sodium sulphate by reacting with oxygen. It forms sulphurous acid in the presence of acids.
ADI DOSE: 0.7 mg per kg of body weight.
