E150a SIMPLE OR RAW CARAMEL
Simple or raw caramel is a brown color obtained from liquid sugar (sucrose or glucose) with the addition of sodium carbonate.
It can be contained in baked goods, biscuits, bread, coffee essences, puddings, liqueurs, soft drinks, ice creams, popsicles, preserves.
Currently there are no known negative side effects regarding the use of plain caramel as a food additive.
