Magnesium chloride is a synthetic additive which acts as an acidity regulator in food. It comes in the form of very deliquescent flakes or colorless, odorless crystals. Very soluble in water, magnesium chloride is also easily soluble in ethanol.
It can be contained in various products, such as sterilized vegetables. It is also used as a source of magnesium in food supplements.
This compound can also cause a laxative effect and, in sensitive people, even kidney problems.
