E132 - INDIGOTINA (or CARMINIUS D "INDIGO - C.I 73015)
Indigotine is a synthetic, blue dye used in candies, syrups, candied fruit, biscuits and sweets. It is considered slightly toxic and may be carcinogenic, although there are insufficient studies to define it as such. In case of allergies, the "indigo carmine can be responsible for nausea, vomiting, hives, hypertension and respiratory problems. In general, its effects on human health are not yet fully understood.
Sometimes it can be used in cosmetics.
ADI DOSE: 5mg per kg of body weight.
