E101 - RIBOFLAVINE; LACTOFLAVINA
Riboflavin is a vitamin, an organic substance that reflects the natural color of milk, hence the synonym lactoflavin. It can be both produced by synthesis and extracted from natural sources (brewer's yeast). As a dye, riboflavin is found in the form of a crystalline powder, yellow to yellow-orange in color and with a slight bitter taste. We find it in biscuits, sweets, packaged ice creams, mayonnaise, creams and milk-based products. At normal doses of use, there are no particular problems for the health of consumers.
ADI DOSE: / not indicated because it is harmless. In case of high intake, this water-soluble vitamin is excreted in the urine without accumulating in the body.
