Periodontitis or pyorrhea is a severe inflammation of the gums and other tooth support systems.
More commonly called pyorrhea, periodontitis is mainly caused by bacterial infections, responsible for the progressive destruction of the periodontium (tooth support apparatus consisting of soft and bone tissues). The origin of pyorrhea is correlated to the accumulation of tartar and plaque which, favoring the formation of bacterial pockets in the periodontal pockets, progressively destroys bone and gingiva.
Pyorrhea can be favored by secondary factors, such as: weakened immune defenses, malnutrition, poor dental hygiene, smoking and crooked teeth. In addition to causing halitosis, periodontitis ruins the aesthetics and harmony of the smile, because it can cause gingivitis, gingival bleeding, gingival recessions with exposure of the root and loss of teeth.
When treated early, periodontitis is a completely reversible disease.
The published material is intended to allow quick access to general advice, suggestions and remedies that doctors and textbooks usually dispense for the treatment of Periodontitis; such indications must in no way substitute the opinion of the attending physician or other health specialists in the sector who are treating the patient. it is a good remedy to avoid irritating even more the swollen and inflamed gums (a characteristic symptom of pyorrhea)
It must be emphasized that natural remedies cannot and must not replace dental or pharmacological treatments (necessary to effectively remove the infection).
(non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), pharmacological remedy to relieve toothache and gum inflammation caused by periodontitis:- Ibuprofen (eg. Brufen, Moment)
- Acetylsalicylic acid (eg. Aspirin, salicin, Vivin C, Ascriptin)
- Naproxene (Aleve, Naprosyn, Prexan, Naprius)
- Doxycycline (eg. Doxycicl, Periostat, Miraclin, Bassado)
- Cefotaxime (eg. Cefotaxime, Aximad, Lirgosin: third generation cephalosporin)
- Chlorhexidine (eg. Disinfene cream, Golasan mouthwash, Clorosan tabs). The drug is taken by implanting a 2.5 mg tablet of active in a periodontal pocket. In this regard, consult your doctor for instructions on how to use it correctly
