The term parenteral refers to the administration of medicaments by injection through the integuments or directly into the circulation.
The parenteral route generally allows to have an effect quickly, to administer inactivated drugs orally, to intervene quickly in emergencies, to administer nutritional solutions to patients who cannot eat normally.
