- Depression in the course of schizophrenic psychosis;
- Depressive phase of manic-depressive psychosis;
- Severe depression during neurological or other pathologies.
- You have had thoughts of suicide or self-harm in the past;
- You are a young adult; in fact, some studies have shown that the onset of suicidal and self-harming behaviors is greater in patients under the age of 25.
In this regard, it may be useful to confide in family and friends, making them aware of one's depressive illness and of the possible presence of suicidal and self-harming thoughts. In any case, if these should occur, it is necessary to immediately inform the doctor.
The physician should be further informed if, during treatment with Maprotiline, the following occur:
- Flu-like symptoms;
- You must undergo surgery, including those of a dental nature;
- Contact lenses are worn and eye irritation occurs due to reduced lacrimation.
Before starting treatment with Maprotiline, however, it is necessary to inform the doctor of your health conditions, making him aware of the possible presence of disorders or diseases of any kind. It is particularly important to inform this health professional if:
- You are being treated with antipsychotic drugs;
- You are taking antiarrhythmic drugs;
- You suffer from cardiovascular disease;
- You suffer from hypotension;
- You suffer from psychosis, delusions, hallucinations and personality changes;
- You have diabetes;
- You suffer from liver and / or kidney diseases;
- You suffer, or have suffered in the past, from diseases such as:
- Glaucoma;
- Pheochromocytoma;
- Chronic constipation;
- Urinary retention;
- Prostatic hypertrophy.
