Generality
The varus knee is an anatomical deformity of the lower limbs, in the presence of which the knees point away from each other.
Among the causes of varus knee, rickets, metabolic bone diseases, gonarthrosis, Blount's disease, repeated and poorly treated knee ligament injuries, fractures of the femur or tibia badly consolidated and bone infections.
Mild forms of varus knee are asymptomatic and have no repercussions in everyday life; the more severe forms, on the other hand, are painful and responsible for various complications, which mainly affect the ligaments of the knee and the medial meniscus of the knee.
As a rule, the diagnosis of varus knee is immediate and is based on the simple observation of the lower limbs.
Individuals with knee varus are treated only when the deformity they carry is responsible for symptoms irreconcilable with a normal life.
