Generality
Macular pucker is a "disease of the eye" which arises due to an alteration of the vitreous humor causing the formation of fibrous-scar tissue in correspondence of the macula, or the central area of the retina.
When macular pucker is symptomatic, it causes: loss of vision, blurred or distorted vision, impaired perception of lines and difficulty in reading small print.
Treatment depends on the presence or absence of severe symptoms: if the manifestations are mild and do not affect everyday life, it is preferable not to intervene; on the contrary, if the symptoms prevent you from carrying out even the simplest daily activities, it is advisable to resort to a vitrectomy.
