Implicated in several medical conditions, these important lymph nodes fall into two large groups: the superficial neck lymph node group and the deep neck lymph node group. These groups are, in turn, distinguishable into various subcategories, depending on their localization on the neck.
The lymph nodes of the neck have the fundamental function of draining and filtering the lymph coming from the head, face and neck itself, and then discharging it into the right jugular lymphatic trunk and the left jugular lymphatic trunk.
