This plant is used in Ayurvedic medicine as a remedy with anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic activity, as well as being used in cases of asthma, ear infections and ascites.
A "lipid-sequestering activity in the intestine has been demonstrated against guggul, with a reduction in seborrhea and cholesterolemia.
