Editorial board Repaglinide - Chemical Structure
Repaglinide belongs to the meglitinide class and to the oral hypoglycemic group. More specifically, it is an active ingredient with a secretagogical action against insulin-secreting cells of the pancreas. In other words, it is capable of stimulating insulin secretion by the β cells of the islets of Langerhans located in the pancreas.
In order to carry out its therapeutic action, repaglinide must be administered orally. In fact, the medicines that contain it are in the form of tablets. The latter, in order to be dispensed, require the presentation of a repeatable medical prescription (RR). However, since they are classified as Tier A drugs, their cost can be reimbursed by the National Health System (NHS).
