Cervicitis: What is it? Causes and Therapy

Often, cervicitis is an expression of venereal diseases; however, it can also be due to non-infectious causes.

Cervicitis can develop completely asymptomatically; therefore, in the absence of symptoms, the patient does not realize the inflammation in progress. More often, however, women with cervicitis complain of the characteristic symptoms of genital infections: alterations in the color and smell of vaginal discharge, alterations of the menstrual cycle and any pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse.

Cervicitis is generally a disease of simple resolution, provided that treatment is promptly.
The goal of medical treatment is the elimination of the triggering cause and the prevention of complications.
