Steven N Blair in 2009 published a study (Br J Sports Med January 2009 Vol 43 No 1) of considerable interest, which demonstrates how the intensity of training in the preventive field in cardiovascular diseases is very important.
In this study (figure 4), the influence of low, medium and high intensity training in subjects with different BMI, on the risk of death due to cardiovascular pathologies, is demonstrated.
Fig. 4
In this study it is shown how high intensity activity significantly reduces the risk of suffering fatal cardiovascular diseases compared to subjects who use low intensity training.
Furthermore, the most important finding of this study is that subjects with a BMI between 30 and 35 (obese subjects) who train with a type of high-intensity work have a lower risk of suffering fatal cardiovascular diseases than subjects with a BMI between 18.5 and 25 (normal subjects), figure 5.

So, in conclusion, the training session - to consider itself as a training session - must take into consideration the laws that underlie the theory and methodology of training, and cannot overlook the importance of intensity when it comes to fitness. , therefore of training for health.
This is why it is very important, when training, not to become coaches, but to rely on the expert hands of a good personal trainer who - knowing the means and methods of training and above all being able to monitor the intensity of the same - can make you achieve the desired results in the shortest possible time, for the benefit of your health.
