Motor re-education
Motor re-education, as movement therapy (kinesitherapy), aims to restore normal muscle, myofascial, joint and movement coordination function of one or more limbs and, consequently, of the whole body. It is generally carried out initially passively and then actively. It is indispensable in the case of orthopedic surgery, both as a preparation for it and, subsequently, as rehabilitation. It is also decisive in the treatment of neuro-motor pathologies.
The proprioceptive re-education is a neuromotor reprogramming carried out through specific stimulations of the entire neuro-motor system.
It is necessary to consider that, when we are in the presence of a trauma, the anatomical lesions also affect the sensory receptors with consequent alteration of the proprioceptive mechanisms, ie the "reading" of the surrounding space by the receptors, and the transmission of information to the central nervous structures; the practical consequences will be lack / distortion of the consciousness of the position in space of the various parts of the body and of their coordination in movement.
On the other hand also to obtain the maximum efficiency in sports performance e in the daily gestures, optimal neuro-muscular-articular "control" is essential. Re-educating the proprioceptive reflexes is fundamental, as well as for rehabilitation purposes, also for sports performance and as prevention in general.
There technique of proprioceptive gymnastics consists in a continuous stimulation of the peripheral receptors, through which the proprioceptive nervous circuits are activated, through specific destabilizing joint stresses (with different degrees of load and difficulty), which allows to optimize the muscular responses, both in terms of speed that of precision, absorbing the destabilizing effect in a physiologically cybernetic way rather than undergoing it.
The next step is to create more and more complex motor patterns (engrams), through specific coordinative solicitations of several body districts.
Postural gymnastics TIB implements, as previously seen, proprioceptive mobilizations of the strategic parts of our myofascial-skeletal system. We also recommend the use of particular ergonomic footwear (such as MBT) equipped with a special sole that simulates the natural terrain or, in case of specific needs, of customized ergonomic insoles as well as, in the presence of occlusal dysfunctional "blocks", of the " appropriate bite.
In addition to the search for the maximum proprioceptivity of the individual districts, the creation of new motor engrams is stimulated through specific coordination exercises between them, thus achieving progressive difficulty motor skills.
Stretching and muscle strengthening
Muscle strengthening is evidently always an integral part of the essential activity for the physical and mental health of man, represented by physical exercise.
It is good to clarify a concept first: a strong muscle is not synonymous with a healthy muscle. A healthy muscle is resilient, that is, with the right strength, resistance and elasticity (in engineering, resilience is the ability of a material to resist impulsive stresses) .
The rise of the muscle mass is mainly due to an increase in the volume of muscle fibers (muscle hypertrophy) which occurs through an increase in the number of myofribils. Although it is not excluded, but it has not yet been proven, that an increase in the number of muscle fibers is possible in humans (muscle hyperplasia), as occurs in animals. Muscle hypertrophy is obtained through intense muscle activity (especially if isometric i.e. against resistance).
The force expressed by a muscle expresses its ability to oppose mechanical resistance and depends on the number of muscle fibers involved in its contraction; when a muscle fiber contracts, in fact, it always does so completely.
A muscle that is not used or subjected to weak contractions reduces its size (in a month of inactivity the muscle volume becomes about half) thus transforming into a hypotrophic or atrophic muscle.
