Calcium bisulfite is the calcium salt of sulphurous acid.
It comes in the form of a greenish liquid, which forms calcium sulfite by chemical reaction.
In the presence of acids, it forms sulphurous acid.
It can be present, as a preservative, in the production of beer. In addition, it increases the stability of canned vegetables.
Calcium bisulfite appears to have no adverse health side effects.
