E160a (ii) → β-CAROTENE
L "E160a are a set of dyes varying in color from orange to yellow, of vegetable origin (ie obtained from fruit and vegetable extracts).
The human organism transforms them and converts them into vitamin A and this ensures that there are no negative side effects; they are in fact considered as harmless food additives for human health.
Usually, carotenoids can be contained in butter, margarines, some sauces, dressings, cheeses, marzipan, ice cream and animal feed (e.g. for chickens).
