Preparation
- In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients, that is the re-milled durum wheat semolina, the cornstarch (corn starch), the grated Parmesan cheese, the salt and the instant yeast.
- Melt the butter in a double boiler or in the microwave and add it to the flour mixture.
- Dissolve half a teaspoon of tomato paste in milk (preferably warm), and add the mixture to the other ingredients.
Why use tomato paste?
In this way, the dough will take on a pink color, very similar to the color of the skin. The dead fingers will be so much more believable!- Mix all the ingredients well and let the dough rest for half an hour: in this way, it will be easier to work the dough.
- Work the dough again with your hands and obtain long loaves of about 8 cm. Squeeze one end in your hands and place a whole almond on it (which will act as a nail).
- With the knife, cut each piece of dough to form the folds of the fingers.
- In the opposite end to the almond, insert some pine nuts (or pine nuts cut in half), as if they were worms coming out of your fingers.
- Place the 12-14 fingers in a plate lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 10 minutes.
- Allow the dead fingers to cool in the plate and serve, perhaps staining the plate with tomato (as if it were blood).
