Performing the hip lift with a modified leg:
- Lie with your back on the floor and keep your feet flat on the floor; place your arms at your sides
- Bring your right ankle over your left knee, squeeze your glutes, and lift your hips off the floor
- Keep the hips raised, detach the right ankle from the left knee until the leg is stretched high and return to rest the ankle on the knee
- Repeat on the opposite side.
- Move your hips as you raise the ankle.
