Metabolic syndrome is a frequent disorder that affects overweight people when there is an increase in abdominal circumference, blood sugar, triglycerides and blood pressure.
Metabolic syndrome is triggered when fat accumulates not in the buttocks but in the abdominals, triggering - as I introduced - the metabolic syndrome. The advice I can give to those who suffer from it and to those who intend to prevent it, is that it is very important to change the lifestyle, practicing regular physical activity, adopting a healthy and balanced diet in which carbohydrates with a low glycemic index are preferred (i.e. slowly absorbed into the bloodstream) so as not to sharply raise blood sugar. I therefore recommend fruit and vegetables, containing precious vitamins, minerals and antioxidants essential for the proper functioning of the organism and capable of protecting the immune system and fighting the harmful action of free radicals.
It is also important - in my opinion - to introduce at least two liters of water per day into the body.
In our organism, in fact, water performs many functions:
- participates in thermoregulation processes
- transports the nutrients to the cells and removes those of waste
- constitutes the means in which metabolic and digestive reactions take place.
These few but correct indications are an excellent starting point for improving one's life and ensuring lasting well-being. For further information: diet, lifestyle and metabolic syndrome.
