Shutterstock Pseudoephedrine - Chemical Structure
Chemically, pseudoephedrine belongs to the 2-phenylethylamine family. To carry out its decongestant action, it is administered orally. In pseudoephedrine-based medicines currently on the market, this amine is always present in association with other active ingredients. Many of these medicines are over-the-counter (OTC) drugs available on the market; while some of them are class C drugs that require presentation of a repeatable medical prescription (RR) in order to be dispensed (Aerinaze®, Naristar®).
