Generality
Chronic sinusitis, or rhinosinusitis, is the persistent and slowly progressive inflammation of the sinuses.
To be considered chronic, a sinusitis must have a minimum duration of 12 weeks.
The main causes include: nasal polyps, deviations of the nasal septum, facial trauma and allergies.
The planning of the most adequate treatment takes place only after an "accurate diagnosis and the identification of the triggering causes."
