Generality
Branch block is a heart condition resulting from an injury or disturbance in the electrical conduction system of the heart.
There are several types of bundle branch block: right bundle bundle block, left bundle bundle block, left anterior hemiblock, left posterior hemiblock, bifascicular block and trifascicular block.
Often asymptomatic, branch blockade can arise due to: hypertension, myocardial infarction, myocarditis, dilated cardiomyopathy, etc.
An electrocardiogram is essential for a correct diagnosis.
Treatment depends on the underlying cause.
