The diagnosis of psoriasis is based on the appearance and distribution of the lesions. Treatment involves the use of emollients, topical drugs (vitamin D analogues, retinoids, tar, anthralin and corticosteroids), phototherapy and, in the most severe forms, therapies systemic (methotrexate, cyclosporine or biologics).
