Fermented red rice
Fermented red rice is obtained by fermentation of common cooking rice (Oryza sativa) by a particular microorganism called "red yeast" (Genus Monascus and species purpureus).
Through fermentation, this yeast enriches the rice with a group of substances called "monacolins", which have been scientifically attributed a marked cholesterol-lowering activity.
Daily DOSAGE is to be agreed with the doctor, especially when choosing concentrated dry extracts. The monacolins of fermented red rice (RYR), used as food supplements, in fact, have a low level of safety when used in doses of 10 mg / day. There have also been single reports of serious adverse reactions to monacolins of the RYR at doses of 3 mg / day.
