For those used to dealing with super tight body builders and elite athletes, this article will seem a bit strange and perhaps not very interesting. from another point of view. I tell of my work experience or even better, first of life and then of work. The event took place during the Christmas holidays when we F.I.F. let's take a breather and we have some time left to do normal everyday things. I went to visit a friend whom I had not seen for a long time but who I knew was not doing too well due to important psycho-physical problems. I'm not going to tell you exactly what this person has for the respect and friendship I have towards him. When I arrived at Marco's house I found him on the sofa, covered, pale and gaunt with an energy level almost below zero. I stayed a long time talking with him and I found myself listening to a person who at one point told me "it's like I have 7 pairs of sunglasses I see all black!". For some time she has not been well, she has not been able to go to work, she does not leave the house and accuses a crazy symptomatic procession so much that she has sustained I do not know how many visits, the result of which is always negative. Diagnosis: stress, anxiety, depression, call it what you want. After a while we were talking, I asked him if he would like to go out for a walk. He replied that it was difficult to walk because he did not feel firm on his legs and that when he walked he felt skidding. Slowly I convinced him he got ready and we went out. The journey was about 100 meters in which he accused of everything, dizziness, palpitations, retrosternal pain, anxiety, agitation and more. Aware of his discomfort we returned home where I saw rivers of absolutely negative words pouring out on me.
Reflecting the next day I said to myself that it was not right to leave him like this and I decided to do something serious. In my walks with my dog Axel I often go to the countryside and I know many beautiful relaxing places where it is pleasant to walk. I went to my favorite place on a long tree-lined road and with the car I covered stretches of 100 meters delimiting them with a sign on the ground. The next day or December 22 I went to pick up Marco and I convinced him to come for a ride in the car and look at random we arrived in the tree-lined street. It was a beautiful sunny day and I asked him to go down for a walk . At first he was reluctant then he let himself be convinced by the fact that there was no one but me whom he trusts and that nothing would happen to him because the promise was if he couldn't make it he would sit against a tree and I would be went to get the car to go and pick him up even only 50 meters away.
In the end we did 200 meters without major problems. I took him home and told him that I was at home for the Christmas holidays and that I went for a walk there every day to relax and that I would be happy if he came with me! He accepted.

the progression as you can see was remarkable. Marco still says that he does not feel stable that he staggers that he hurts his chest that he struggles. However, now every day he takes a good walk and deep down he sometimes tells me that he is better, sleeps better, eats with more appetite and above all he has started to leave the house. In addition to walking, I gave him a whole series of respiratory gymnastics exercises to relax, and free body exercises to restore the muscles that the period of inactivity made hypotonic. Plus I'm teaching him to do autogenic training to try and get back at peace with himself. Another important thing I managed to convince him to go to a psychotherapist to see if he could really get back in shape.
Our program will go on and on and the goal is to walk uninterruptedly for 6 km and then start a mixed program of fast walking and running until you get to run and that's it. Our partner is clearly my Axel who is happy and cheerful if tripping her in the country.
I report this experience of mine for two different reasons, the first purely technical is that a personal trainer must "be able to work in every situation, managing to find the right path, the right work progression. A good personal trainer must" be a great motivator and this story teaches it. I did not use strange techniques, I did not recommend the latest generation supplement, I did nothing but look for a quiet place and fix a series of pegs on the ground to see the distance to go. In the end, however, this was the right way to to see a friend feel better and this is the second motivation that in the end is the first, this whole story has been a great personal and professional satisfaction for me. One day Marco told me that he wanted to pay me because he said "I know that you are an important fitness, others say (our friends) and it is right that your time is paid "he reiterated the concept that many doctors had not been able to understand and treat him. I did not want anything my satisfaction was the best pay his smile when we get to the car after the walk it gives me the energy to face the rest of the day. Besides the fact that those who know me know that I only have one mitochondrion and that all this is doing me a crazy good me too !!!
I think that in fitness there is also room for these situations, perhaps more difficult to deal with, perhaps less interesting for those who want to be a super athletic trainer and perhaps even less profitable from an economic point of view. But if fitness means psychophysical well-being then there is also room for Marco and his goal. Also this year we played the now legendary and traditional match of bachelor-style soccer with Fantozzi style among friends. Well this "year Marco did not feel it but the final goal of our journey as the title of the article says is to return to having a normal life, so next year Marco will be on the pitch kicking the ball and the shins. of opponents.
