ELOCON ® is a drug based on Mometasone furoate
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: Non-associated corticosteroids, dermatological preparations
Indications ELOCON ® Mometasone
ELOCON ® is indicated in the treatment of dermatitis, neurodermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, sunburn and all other forms of inflammatory skin diseases sensitive to treatment with corticosteroids.
Mechanism of action ELOCON ® Mometasone
Mometasone, the active ingredient of ELOCON ®, is a recently introduced synthetic corticosteroid, with particular pharmacokinetic properties that allow the setting of therapeutic plans based on once daily doses.
In the face of these pharmacokinetic properties, the pharmacodynamic properties are instead the same as those of other corticosteroids, therefore characterized by the ability to induce the expression of proteins such as Lipocortin capable of inhibiting the enzyme Phospholipase A2, initiator of the molecular events that lead to the production of prostaglandins, chemical mediators with marked pro-inflammatory, platelet aggregating and edema activities.
All this takes the form of a prompt remission of the complained symptoms and a clear improvement in the quality of life of the affected patient.
