DELTA 80 ® is a drug based on Benzoyl Peroxide and Cetylpyridinium chloride
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: Anti-acne preparations for topical use
Indications DELTA 80 ® Benzoyl peroxide and Cetylpyridinium
DELTA 80 ® is indicated for skin disinfection.
Given the antiseptic capacity towards Corynebacterium Acnes, DELTA 80 ® can also be used in the treatment of acne.
Mechanism of action DELTA 80 ® Benzoyl peroxide and Cetylpyridinium
DELTA 80 ® is a medicine used as an antiseptic for the skin due to its active principles with strong broad-spectrum disinfectant power and therefore active against pathogenic microorganisms such as Corynebacterium acnes, involved in the pathogenesis of acne.
The antiseptic action is to be traced back to Benzoyl peroxide, capable of acting as an oxidizing agent against multiple microorganisms, altering the normal structure of vital molecules and compromising the functional and vital capacity of the bacteria and Cetylpyridinium chloride, quaternary ammonium salt, which thanks to its cationic and surfactant properties is able to alter the normal structure of the bacterial wall, compromising its protective and exchange function.
Following the topical use of the drug, neither of the two active ingredients is absorbed systemically, thus significantly reducing the risk of serious side effects, and at the same time preserving a high efficacy of action at the local level.
The aforementioned antiseptic and disinfectant action allows to limit the proliferation of comedogenic microbial strains, avoiding the inflammatory evolution of acne lesions.
