(agnoside and aucubine); Flavonoids in fruits (among which we find casticin and penduletin); Essential oil (containing, among the various substances, pinene and cineole); Fatty oils. are recommended as potential useful remedies against various disorders of the female sphere, such as premenstrual syndrome, hyperprolactinemia and functional disorders of the menstrual cycle. Furthermore, the use of the plant is also suggested in case of amenorrhea, menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, milk insufficiency, menopausal disorders, anxiety, sexual erethism (due to its anaphrodisiac properties) and to normalize ovulation and menstruation after interruptions caused by the use of birth control pills.
