The pomegranate fruit belongs to the VI and VII fundamental food groups - foods rich in vitamin A, foods rich in vitamin C. It is also rich in water, fiber, fructose, mineral salts and non-vitamin antioxidants - for example phenolic in nature. As we will see in the next paragraphs, pomegranate fruits have recently been attributed miraculous antioxidant properties; in a reckless way, there are those who have even labeled them as "anti-cancer fruits".
It is certainly no coincidence that, in the original weights, pomegranate fruits have acquired an esoteric, almost magical meaning. They appear in the texts of many cultures of antiquity, with references both sacred and of medical interest.
