Generality
Bilateral coxarthrosis is osteoarthritis of both hip joints.
Typical of advanced age, bilateral coxarthrosis can be an idiopathic condition - that is, it arises without recognizable causes - or a secondary condition, that is supported by a specific factor; among the causal factors of secondary bilateral coxarthrosis, there are diseases such as, for example, the congenital dysplasia of the hip, trauma to the hip, obesity, diseases of the cartilage, etc.
The therapy of bilateral coxarthrosis varies in relation to the severity of the symptoms present: for a mildly symptomatic bilateral coxarthrosis, conservative treatment may suffice; for a severely symptomatic bilateral coxarthrosis, however, surgical therapy is required.
