The term Body Building literally means "body building".
It is clearly an anaerobic individual sport.
Nowadays, one of the most common mistakes related to tradition is to identify this sport as a way to enhance one's body.
Clearly all gym-goers have goals to achieve and a body type to achieve but that doesn't mean it should be misunderstood with a "narcissistic type association."
Very often the term "gym" is associated with the disproportionate thought of enormous muscle masses and this, to those who love the sector, can only regret.
This activity not only allows an increase in muscle cells (hypertrophy), or an increase in their number (hyperplasia), but a better ratio between the percentage of lean and fat mass, generic strengthening, a good proportion in the size of the various muscle groups, improvements postural, compensation between various muscle imbalances and much more.
The benefits induced by weight training are many:
- improvement of sports performance
- strengthening of connective tissue (tendons and ligaments)
- improvement of the cardiovascular system (greater volume of the systolic stroke, reduction of F. C. at rest, decrease of arteriovenous pressure)
- improvement of the skeletal system
- increase in strength
- increased muscle endurance
- Improvement of the respiratory system (strengthening of the respiratory muscles, "growth" of the rib cage)
- improvement of the nervous system
- joint mobility improvement (through stretching)
- strengthening of the circulatory system (structuring high repetition training with short recovery times and medium / low loads)
- improvement of proprioceptive and coordination skills
- improvement of the aesthetic aspect
Nowadays, almost all team sports use some weight training sessions in their training methods. This is because the use of overloads in team sports finds application in the development of strength, muscle mass, and in improving tone. muscle of the main postural muscles.
Here in Italy this type of "coupling" has been performed for a short time, while in America these sessions have been carried out for several years ...
In addition, aerobic work, accompanied by weight sessions, can be an additional gain for our body in health terms.
Clearly, before inserting an aerobic work into a training program, you need to realize the subject to whom you are proposing it, and if you are talking about a Hard-Gainer (to be clear), it would be better to wait for the first goals to be achieved. before proposing it, even if a minimum of aerobic work to maintain a healthy weight can only do us good.
I hope that through this information I have made this sport appreciated by even the most hostile; my personal opinion remains, however, shared by many, that any sporting activity done with criteria, devotion, commitment and passion can only help us lead a better lifestyle.
