Ingrediants
- 750 g (5, small) of apples
- 180 g of phyllo dough
- 40 ml of corn oil
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 piece of ginger root
- Grated rind of untreated lemon
- 30 g of brown sugar
- 50 g of sultanas
- 20 g of breadcrumbs
Materials Needed
- Brush
- Baking tray
- Baking paper
- Core lever
- Grater
Preparation
- Soak the raisins in warm water.
- Wash the apples, remove the core and, if not organic, peel them.
- Prepare the dough for the bundle. Unroll the phyllo dough on the work surface and, keeping the thin sheets overlapping, obtain regular rectangles, whose dimensions are able to perfectly contain a whole apple. Place each single rectangular sheet on the surface and brush with a little oil, preferably seeds. Lay another sheet on top of the first and brush again, repeat the procedure until 4 sheets are glued together: you will have to obtain 5 rectangles made up, each, of 4 overlapping sheets.
The alternative way
To speed up the procedure, follow these steps:- Spread a single sheet of phyllo dough on the work surface (rectangle 30 x 40 cm)
- Brush half of the rectangle with oil
- Fold the rectangle placing the greased part on top of the other
- Brush half of the folded rectangle again, then fold it further
- Sprinkle the base of the phyllo dough rectangle with a spoonful of breadcrumbs, then place the apple in the center and stuff the inside with raisins, well squeezed by the soaking water. Flavor with lemon zest, grated ginger, cinnamon and add a teaspoon of brown sugar.
- Wrap the apple with the phyllo dough to obtain a bundle. Brush with a little oil and sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Repeat the operation with the other apples as well.
- Cover the pan with aluminum to prevent the filo pastry from overcooking: cook at 180 ° C for 15-20 minutes, then remove the aluminum and finish cooking for another 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and serve, very hot, the apples cooked in the bundle.
