The disease of which the Marburg virus is responsible falls, in fact, among the viral haemorrhagic fevers, characterized by hyperpyrexia, abundant bleeding and systemic manifestations (arthomyalgia, cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea) with acute onset and often so severe as to lead to death within a few days.
According to data from the World Health Organization, the death rate related to the Marburg cases extends up to 88%.
