Generality
A bone tumor is any tumor, benign or malignant, that originates from a cell in bone or cartilage tissue.
The main benign bone tumors include: osteochondroma, unicameral non-ossifying fibroma, osteoclastoma, enchondroma and fibrous dysplasia.
Ewing's sarcoma
On the other hand, the most important malignant bone tumors include: osteosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, chondrosarcoma and all secondary bone tumors.Symptoms of a bone tumor depend on the nature of the tumor: benign bone tumors are generally asymptomatic, while malignant ones are symptomatic.
A benign bone tumor tends to resolve spontaneously; recourse to treatment takes place only in certain circumstances.
A malignant bone tumor, on the other hand, is a condition that requires specific therapies, including: surgery to remove the tumor mass, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
